The elevation of the reservoir is rising close to the 1,909-foot mark and the surface temperature is a chilly 42oF. Check up-to-date reservoir levels here, or call the Army Corps of Engineers at 800-472-2434 for flow and temperature information.
The low water ramp at French Gulch is available, but mud or ice may make the launch difficult to use. The Copper boat ramp is unusable below 1,923 foot mark. Hart-tish Park is closed.
With cool temperatures trout fishing should be decent. Applegate was stocked with additional trout this spring, and plenty of holdovers should be available. Surface temps should raise a bit over the next few days and anglers may entice some small mouth on drop-shot rigs.
There is a longstanding health advisory for consumption of resident species due to elevated levels of mercury. See Oregon Health Authority consumption guidelines or the 2022 sportfishing regulations for more information.
