The marinas and most of the reservoir are iced over. Ice thickness is varied. Anglers fishing from the courtesy docks at Utah Lake State Park report an ice thickness of 1 to 3 inches. Fishing through the ice is fair to good for white bass and yellow perch using jigs tipped with nightcrawler or mealworm. Anglers fishing the tributaries are also reporting fair to good fishing for white bass, black crappie, bluegill, common carp and largemouth bass using nightcrawler. Ice thickness and ice conditions vary wildly — cracking/fragmenting and ice movement often results in large ice stacking events along the shorelines, creating large areas of open water. Use extreme caution, particularly if/when fishing outside the marinas and harbors. An ice safety guide is available here.
