The mainstem Nehalem doesn’t have any hatchery steelhead releases, but there are wild steelhead available for catch-and-release fishing. The lower Nehalem is getting a little bump in flows today and will be on the drop through Sunday afternoon/evening when the next rains come. This reach could be a good bet for the weekend for those looking to catch-and-release.
The upper Nehalem will be getting a little on the low side, but still fishable. All wild steelhead must be released unharmed. Avoiding long fights and handling will reduce stress on released fish.
