FISH REPORT

Stocking: The next trout plant will be the week of April 3rd where another 1,500 pounds will go into the lake. The last stocking of 2,000 pounds yielded limits for many!  So far this season, DFW has brought us 2,200 pounds of trout in addition to the 17,000 pounds of trout stocked from Idaho.

What's the catch?  The bass bite has picked up all over the lake. Reports of bass off of the t-dock as well as Hermit Cove this weekend. They were biting on shiners. With 2,000 pounds of trout stocked, lots of happy fishermen went home with a couple of rainbows and many made limits early. Many were coming in off of boats, but we heard Hermit Cove saw some action as well as east of the t-dock just past Siesta Point. It was all about powerbait and nightcrawlers for the trout. Our rangers didn't receive any reports of panfish, but they tend to school in Half Moon and Cloister Coves. Catfish are still a little sluggish as the temps are cooler then average for this time of year, but we expect that they'll become more active the deeper we get into spring and a warming trend. Expect the big cat season to start a little later this year!

Conditions: The water temperature is holding around 57 degrees. The sun is rising at 6:43 a.m. and setting at 7:05 p.m. NOAA is predicting another sunny weekend with highs in the upper 60s. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
