Cascade River to open four days per week for hatchery spring Chinook

Action: Opens a portion of the Cascade River to fishing for hatchery spring Chinook Wednesdays through Saturdays.
Effective date: June 1 through July 15, 2023.
Species affected: Chinook salmon.
Location: Cascade River (Skagit Co.) from mouth to Rockport-Cascade Road Bridge. CRC (826).
Rules: Open for salmon Wednesdays through Saturdays only, closed to all other species. Daily limit 4 hatchery Chinook including no more than 2 adults. Minimum size is 12". Night closure and anti-snagging rule in effect. The area is closed to sport fishing for all species Sundays through Tuesdays.
Reason for action: Harvestable numbers of hatchery spring Chinook are forecast to return to Marblemount Hatchery. Tribal fisheries are scheduled Sundays through Tuesdays, thus the weekly closure to recreational fishing on those days.
Additional information: Anglers are asked to cooperate with creel personnel collecting catch information. Monitoring and evaluation of fisheries is an important part of ensuring we are meeting our conservation goals for salmon. The July 1-15 period of this fishery will also be listed in the upcoming 2023/24 Washington Sportfishing Rules pamphlet.
