Steelhead fishing is reportedly slow. Few of the steelhead spotted are hatchery origin (clipped adipose fin). Wild steelhead are catch-and-release only and anglers are urged to take extra precaution to minimize handling time during the warm summer months to minimize mortality.

Until Sept. 30, 2023, fishing at the mouth of all Umpqua River tributaries is prohibited from Scottsburg Bridge upstream to River Forks boat ramp. Angling is prohibited within 200 feet from all portions of a tributary’s mouth and the tributaries themselves from the mouth to 200 feet upstream.
