Stocking: One thousand pounds of catfish was stocked last week. Another 1,000 pounds will go into the lake the week of July 31st. Catfish season will run until mid-October. We’ll stock a total of 8,500 pounds this season.

What’s the Catch? The bass bite was plentiful this weekend. Sounds like they were biting on shiners and Senkos in Half Moon Cove. Also biting in Half Moon were Bluegills on meal worms. Half Moon Cove has great structure so it’s no surprise that the Bluegill are schooling there and the bass are hanging around to grab a meal. As expected the catfish were active this weekend. Multiple reports of limits caught all around the lake mostly by boat. Mackerel and dip bait were reeling them in.

Conditions: The water temperature is a balmy 77 degrees. To reach cooler temps, you’d need to go about 50 feet deep. Summer has arrived! The water draw continues, so there is lots of shoreline to fish. Be aware of shallow structure if you’re in a boat especially around the points. The next new moon is August 16th. The sun is rising at 5:49 a.m. and setting at 7:58 p.m.
