This annual event calls attention to the harm introduced species can do to aquatic environments. Pikeminnow are native to much of western Oregon but were illegally introduced in the Rogue Basin. Summer steelhead are moving through the middle Rogue, but migration rates are likely to slow with warmer water temperatures. Small lures and flies work well.

Most Spring Chinook have moved through the middle Rogue, but a few continue to trickle through. Consult Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations for open sections and bag limits.

Trout season is open. Hatchery trout (less than 16 inches) may be harvested, catch and release for wild rainbow and cutthroat.

Current flow, temp and turbidity conditions for the Rogue can be found at the USGS stream gauges here, or checking the City of Grants Pass water page’s river data here
