Water Conditions
With fall here, the water temperatures have really come down giving the area some great fishing conditions. Despite having a lot of afternoon thunderstorms lately, the clarity on the Truckee River has remained clear. Fish have been much more active with the cooler temperatures and high clarity. The best flows on the Truckee River are still from Glenshire area to Stateline. Flows on the Truckee River are 77 CFS in the town of Truckee, 114 CFS in Glenshire and 555 CFS at the stateline.
Tips for the Week
This time of the year, anglers can try a lot of different techniques to fish the Truckee River. Streamer fishing can be a great technique in sections with higher flows right now and dry fly fishing is doing better in areas with lower flows, like the upper pools near Tahoe City. Still a lot of opportunities for anglers to try tightline nymphing as well.
