The only opportunity on the mainstem Nehalem will be wild winter steelhead (catch-and-release only) and numbers will be low this time of year but should increase as the month and winter go on. The winter steelhead run on the Nehalem peaks January through March but usually fishes best in February and March. The Nehalem is a large basin that can blow out quickly and stay muddy for extended periods.
