Oak Creek - Starting January 1, 2023, the catch-and-release section on Oak Creek has been expanded to include Oak Creek from the Highway 89A bridge at Slide Rock State Park upstream to the Sterling Springs Fish Hatchery property boundary including the West Fork Oak Creek. This section will be catch and release only for trout, artificial fly and lure only, barbless hooks only. Stream flow peaked at 468 cfs on 3/20/2024 at 12:45 p.m. and recent flow reading of 123 cfs was on 3/25/2024 at 8:45 a.m. With the storms over the weekend and more forecasted for early this week, there is a potential for higher flows. High flows due to spring runoff may increase turbidity and limit fishing success this week. Cave Springs and Pine Flat campgrounds are closed for the winter. Anglers are finding success on spinners and flies. Hellgrammite, Simi-seal Leech, Zebra Midge, Elk Hair Caddis, hoppers, and mayfly patterns are a good bet. Now is a good time to target the large brown trout that inhabit Oak Creek. Rainbow trout were stocked last week
