Catfish Season: Catfish Opener is Memorial Day weekend where 1,500 pounds from Alpine Fishery will be stocked. A total of 8,500 pounds of catfish will be stocked this season. With catfish season comes night fishing! The lake will be open on Friday and Saturday until midnight beginning May 24th.

How do you find catfish at Lake Jennings? In the warmer months you will find them in shallow water, less than 10 ft. deep. Look for submerged or downed trees or rocky areas. During the day,

cats like to hide and you need to move your bait often because a catfish won't

move very far, but if you run it by his nose he'll bite. If you are fishing at night they will use

their whiskers to find your bait so you don't have to move it. Ask our rangers for more tips and best locations to fish for catfish.

The bait shop carries a variety of live bait as well as preserved and dip baits for your catfishing needs.

Conditions: With the water draw, be aware of exposed and submerged structure while boating and muddy shoreline around the lake. See details about the lake draw below. The current water temperature at the surface is 67 degrees. Temperatures drop to 64 degrees around 20 feet deep. The days are getting longer with the sun is rising at 6:08 a.m. and setting at 7:25 p.m. The next New Moon is May 7th.
