Shasta Lake is kicking out some fantastic dinner plate rainbow trout. On my last trip, my guys took home, 10 beautiful drag ripping, fat rainbow trout, as well as few brown trout. We caught all these fish while trolling around the lake at 3 mph plus. The hot lure of day was the optimizer jr lathered in procure threadfin shad gel. The Trout are gorging themselves on the shad as they usually during the summer months from the surface down to 100 feet. 

We caught few other trout while trolling dodgers and plugs but like I said earlier the optimizer what the hot lure. The bigger fish were all in the 4 pound class with the smaller ones around 2 pounds. The meat on these trout is a beautiful orange/red color which make for a fabulous cooking on the BBQ or oven.
