The Trinity is a solid option right now and the weather is so much cooler than it is here in the Central Valley. A lot of adults and a bunch of half pounders in the 18 - 22" range can be had from Old Lewiston Bridge all the way past the confluence with the North Fork. The water coming from Lewiston is nice and cold, watch out if you fish further downstream as the temps can creep up towards 70 F. Fish are keying on hatching mayflies, mainly PMDs and Callibaetis. If you play your cards right, you can pick up an adult on a dry. We have guide availability if you would like to get a taste of fair weather steelheading!

Steelhead Fishing Can be Frustrating
These anadromous rainbow trout are known as the 'Fish of a Thousand Casts.' For good reason! The learning curve can be quite steep learning when and where to go, and what type of water to target. Early Summer Run Steelhead on the Trinity River will take swung flies readily. Spey rods are becoming an increasingly popular method to swing flies. The Fly Shop's Signature Spey Rods are an economical way to get into a great Spey rig.
