Fishing regulation updates get a new home

If you're confused about where to find the fall salmon regulations, Columbia River seasons and other fishing regulation updates, we think you'll like the new Fishing regulation updates page on MyODFW.com. This page is easy to find (just do a quick search for "regulation updates") and has a clickable map that will get you to the zone you want to know about. You also can continue to link to it from the Recreation Report.‌

Hunters, anglers, wildlife watchers: What to know about wildfires

Wildfire season is hitting Oregon hard. Here's what hunters and anglers should know:‌

  • You can check for the latest fire updates and closures using the links on this webpage.
  • This page will also describe ODFW policies on refunding tags and reinstating preference points.
  • A&H properties in NE Oregon remain closed indefinitely due to significant fire danger.

Buoy 10 open for fishing

The popular Buoy 10 salmon fishery at the mouth of the Columbia River opened Aug. 1 and anglers are catching fish. Find 10 tips for Buoy 10 fishing.‌

Tuna fishing has been hot

Last week the albacore catch ranged from almost five fish per angler out of Charleston to almost twice that out of Pacific City. Learn more about Tuna fishing in Oregon.‌

Are you ready for your hunting season?

It's not too soon to start planning for the upcoming season. That can include getting in shape to pack out an elk, looking for sales on your favorite ammunition and doing some pre-season scouting. Use this hunter's checklist to make sure you've got everything covered before and during your hunt.‌

Take a class with ODFW

Here's what's on the calendar this week:‌

  • Observation and glassing – Aug. 10 & 11 in Monmouth
  • Bowhunter sight-in and pre-season 3D course – Aug. 24 in La Pine
  • Hunter Education – various times and locations

Check out the Workshop and events page for details and to register.‌
