The lake was stocked this morning with 700lbs of trout by CDFW, and we will be privately stocking trophy sized trout before the derby starts! The fish will be hungry so come on out this weekend and be the first to qualify!

Traditional baits and tackle are working well to reel in the big ones!

The fish are still staying deep in the colder water. Cooler weather is in the forecast which will bring the fish closer to the surface. For your best luck, go out in the early mornings or early evenings.

Successful anglers are using lead core line for trolling down35 to 40 feet. You can bring your own watercraft or RENT ONE from our marina. We have 16ft V-Hulls and 3 sizes of pontoons that can seat 9 to 14 people.

We also have kayaks and paddleboards.

The bite is also good from the shore. Drop in a line and wait for the bite. Nightcrawlers are still one of the most productive baits for fishing not only at Convict Lake, but in the Eastern Sierra. Garlic PowerBaitis still the main go to, as well as Red/Gold Thomas Buoyants. All this and more can be found in our General Store.

From now until Labor Day, the store is open 7am to 8pmMonday thru Saturday and 7am to 7pm on Sunday.
