Trout season is approaching, and I'm excited to feature local angler Mike Merritt, proudly displaying his catch of rainbow trout from Rotary Park. The daily bag limit for trout below Davis Dam is five. Mike used PowerBait while fishing from the shore to land these beauties.

This Saturday, we’ll be hosting a fishing clinic called Your First Fish for first-time anglers. It’s a great opportunity to learn the basics and experience the thrill of catching your first fish. We’ll provide PowerBait and poles, so all you need to bring is yourself! The event will take place at the Rotary Park launch ramp around 10 a.m., and there’s no charge to participate. With fish costing up to $10 each, it’s a great chance to enjoy the day and take home a catch. Bags and a cleaning station will be available, and our staff will be there to assist you with anything you need.

Stay tuned for more fishing news in my next report. Up at Lake Mohave, trolling has been highly productive, especially when you spot shad boils with stripers chasing them. Look for ripples or watch for birds, as they’ll often lead you to the action.
