The Upper Kern was stocked this week in Section 4 from Riverside Park in Kernville to Powerhouse #3. Our contacts reported steady trout action throughout the 20-mile stretch of Upper Kern to Johnsondale Bridge. Sick jigs in various colors, pinched crawlers, and salmon eggs have been working well. In the Lower Kern, trout have been showing in the canyon up to Keysville with trout jigs and spinners. Largemouth and smallmouth bass have been coming on Senkos, small crankbaits, and jigs. Catfish can be caught with SSS dip bait, cutbait, and worms. Bluegill have been coming on live worms. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River at Kernville was flowing at 192 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 371 CFS.
