Lake Mohave Bass Action

Lake Mohave - Cottonwood Cove, NV

Our local angler, Alered Sarabia, was recently fishing at Lake Mohave, using anchovies in hopes of catching stripers. To his surprise, he landed a nice largemouth bass weighing 3.98 pounds and measuring 18 inches, along with a smallmouth bass at 2.10 pounds and 15 3/4 inches. Both fish were caught on anchovies near the dam on the Nevada side.

I've been hearing that the shelves are ideal spots for smallmouth bass, while the back coves and tall weeds along the shoreline often harbor sizable largemouth bass. There are also reports of fish boils, where stripers are chasing baitfish to the surface. Keep an eye out for ripples in the water or birds diving in, as these can indicate feeding activity.

Fishing below Davis Dam along our shoreline is still productive. Our parks offer great spots to cast a line, whether you're targeting stripers or rainbow trout. With the right bait, anglers have been getting some excellent catches.

Remember, both largemouth and smallmouth bass must be at least 13 inches, with a bag limit of 6. For striped bass below Davis Dam, the limit is 10, with no size restrictions. Rainbow trout, supplied by the Willow Beach hatchery, have a bag limit of 5.

We hope this information helps and look forward to seeing you soon to share your catch. Thank you for all the support—now go catch a fish!
