The Crooked River remains in great shape, with steady flows creating ideal fishing conditions. Afternoon Blue Wing Olive hatches, usually from noon to 3 p.m., have been consistent. Purple Haze is a reliable pattern, but also try others to match the hatch.

Aside from BWOs, Mahogany Duns and PMDs are still showing up, and tan Elk Hair Caddis are still making their appearance but don’t account for dry action for much longer. For nymphing, Perdigons, two-bit nymphs, and jig Napoleons are all producing well. Don’t forget about Zebra Midges and scuds—they’re working their magic in the river too.

This is a fantastic time to fish the Crooked River. With the season moving forward, it’s only going to get better, so take advantage of the opportunity. Booking a guide can help you get the most out of your trip, especially as hatches shift and fishing conditions evolve.
