Stocking: Another 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout from Idaho was stocked last week. The next stocking from Idaho comes the week of January 6th. So far, 8,200 pounds of trout have been stocked this season between DFW and Wright’s Rainbows.
What’s the Catch? Lots of 2-3 pound trout pulled last weekend from all over the lake. Anglers reported using mini jigs, worms, spoons, spinners, and Powerbait. The Hermit Cove buoy line was active for trout as well as the shoreline by the old boat dock. The bass bite was busy this weekend. Multiple reports of catch and release bass as well as some larger ones on dropshot and plastics. With night fishing last Saturday, the rangers saw catfish biting on mackerel, worms, and garlic shrimp. Bluegill were biting off of the t-dock on meal worms and Powerbait.
Conditions: The current water temperature is 62.5 degrees near the dock. The lake is at 695 foot elevation and the water column is well oxygenated. The district has stopped the fill. The sun is rising at 6:50 a.m. and setting at 4:51 p.m.
