Hey, it's me again! I landed these fish using a Panther Martin spinner, yellow with red spots. I really like this one—it works well in our area. When fishing for trout, spinners are fun, and anglers have a lot of choices. Some work great, while others that might work in lakes just can’t seem to get the trout to bite. If your lure isn’t catching fish, try switching it up. Sometimes, switching to bait like night crawlers or PowerBait does the trick.
Not all colors produce fish either. Anglers will need to experiment, and once you find the right color, you’ll have your limit in no time. This time of year, you’ll have the best luck at Community Park or Davis Camp. Rotary Park isn’t getting any trout stocking until next year. Stocking runs from October to March, and the folks at Willow Beach Hatchery are raising some great fish for us.
The Community Park area is also great for stripers running in the Colorado River. Anglers have had great success with swimbaits, and I think anchovies should start working for the stripers as well. Up on Lake Mohave, we should be seeing some boils soon, so keep an eye out for ripples and where the birds are flying around.
Oh, and the wind can be a real bummer, especially on the lake. Plan ahead and leave your return plan with someone before heading out.
Hope this helps! Looking forward to hearing your stories and sharing that catch. This is an older picture I had to dig up, so I’m hoping to see someone share their recent experience. Thanks for all the support!
Now, go catch a fish!
