While we expect the flows to remain  the same after this incoming storm, we do anticipate the temps to continue to drop with nighttime temps into the teens later this week. The drop in water temperature will make afternoons the best time to get on the water. We are still waiting on the Skwalas to really start up. While nymphing them has been putting some fish in the net this week, we have no reports of dry fly action using skwala adults. Your best bet will be fishing BWO’s, winter stones and midges right now. We often pair these with worms and eggs throughout the winter months.

The start of run-off is probably only a few short weeks away, and the flows likely will only get higher as we head into spring. When the flows come up, the game becomes fishing the edges and banks using large attractor nymphs, heavy tippet and hoping you can keep them on once you hook up. Until then, fish like you have all winter focusing on the slow deep buckets that are walking speed or slower. With daylight savings this week, after work fishing sessions are now here. Get out and get after it!
