With calm seas in the morning, the Queen of Hearts made good time getting offshore for the first deep sea rockfishing trip of the year.  I heard the fish were hanging down close to the bottom...give it a couple of bounces, hook a fish or reel back up and reset.  A little work, but worth it for best results.  Reminder:  if the crew makes a suggestion, darn good idea to do it.  Anything they say is because they want you to catch fish as much or more than you do.  The wind came up a little towards the middle of the trip but still nice ocean conditions overall.  Not quite limits today, but still a lot of quality rockfish caught and heading home for wonderful fresh fish meals.  Good weather on the ocean looks like it will hold up at least for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Too early to tell after that.  Always feel free to give us a call at the shop if you'd like an update.  Our phones are live from 8am to 3:30pm.
