Colorado River - Laughlin - Laughlin, NV

We’re getting into some nice fish here along the Colorado River. One of our local anglers was out fishing from his boat using his favorite lure and landed a trophy-sized striper. The fish weighed in at 16.08 pounds and measured 33½ inches in length. He was fishing in the Upper Big Bend area when he hooked into it.
Smaller stripers are hitting on anchovies and seem to be spread up and down the river right now. Up on Lake Mohave, smallmouth bass have been providing most of the action. There is some striper activity, but it’s been hit or miss—you’ll need to move around until you find a cove where they’re holding. Keep an eye out for surface ripples or birds feeding to help locate them.
We are currently out of trout from the Willow Beach Hatchery plant, so anglers will need to search for deeper holes where trout are holding. Spinners and nightcrawlers have been your best bet for rainbow trout.
We’ll be gearing up for the Trout Clinic in September, and we look forward to seeing you there.
Hope this helps for now. We always enjoy seeing you come in to share your catch and your stories—thanks for all the support.
Now go catch a fish!
