News Notes: Pot of Gold, New Virg's Location, Alaska King Limit Upped, Great SFR Trip on TapThe wind that made salmon fishing a bit sketchy up the line in the Bay Area moved down the coast today, but the forecast looks good for this weekend and here's hoping there's more good news, like the report from Frontier Lodge in Sitka that the annual non-resident take of king salmon has been upped to 5 fish (from 2) for this season.

The reason is even better -- Southeast Alaska is looking for some epic returns of kings this year and let's hope that spreads to other parts of that great big state way up north. And early forecasts are good down here, too. Early results despite the wind along the California coast have been encouraging from the spots that usually do best early in the salmon season, so here's hoping we'll get into lots of Chinook near and far.

Patriot Sportfishing in Avila Beach is keeping an eye out for the salmon and word has it that the Fiesta has run some trips out Morro Bay. The old Virg's headquarters has been moved to the Giannini Building on Market St. and currently the Fiesta is loading customers out of Michelle Rowley's Central Coast Sportfishing while the other Virg's boats ride moorings in the bay. Look for more updates on this in the future.

Anglers looking for a good return really close to home need look no further than Long Beach Sportfishing where the Annual Pot of Gold Halibut Tournament is underway and the landing will be sending out a boat no how many anglers show (more than zero, anyway), weather permitting. You can book online through the Long Beach Sportfishing website. Just Click Here.

Finally, Pat Cavanaugh continues to sniff out the white seabass on the Pacific Dawn and there are only 8 spots left on the SportfishingReport.com trip that goes out this Saturday night. Don't miss out on some fun fishing and great people. Book now! All you have to do is Click Here.
