Upcoming commission meeting is May 2-3 in Prescott

The next Arizona Game and Fish Commission meeting will be held on Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3, at the Yavapai Board of Supervisors Hearing Room at the Yavapai County Administrative Services Building, 1015 Fair Street, Prescott, Ariz.


The meeting begins at 8 a.m. Friday morning with a call to the public, followed by consideration of several consent agenda items (see agenda).


The Commission also will hear: the status of state and federal legislation; a request to approve six statewide shooting range grants; an update on the Customer Portal project; a request to approve out-of-cycle proposed rulemaking for membership program tag use, transfer and surrender, as well as bonus point reinstatement; a request to approve proposed rulemaking amending Article 2 rules addressing licenses, permits, stamps and tags; a presentation of rulemaking recommendations for Article 4 rules; a Research Branch briefing; a request related to Page Springs Cellars and Vineyards' encroachment at Page Springs Hatchery; a request for Commission approval of a memorandum of understanding with the Altar Valley Conservation Alliance for Cooperative Activities; a Memorandum of Understanding with the Friends of Verde River Greenway; a license agreement with Triskee Farms at Quigley Wildlife area; a 2016 budget proposal and 2015 budget modification; a requested approval of commission policy on engagement at the regional and national level.


Other items on Friday's agenda include seven license revocation cases (time certain at 2 p.m.) and a petition to reinstate bonus points.


The meeting resumes Saturday at 8 a.m. The Saturday agenda includes a Prescott community forum that will include outside agencies/organizations and leaders presenting ongoing partnerships, followed by 30 minutes of questions and answers from attendees. Forum topics will include:


- Fishing and the Prescott Great Outdoors event, presented by the city of Prescott

- A collaboration on nuisance/injured wildlife calls, presented by the Heritage Park Zoo

- Collaboration on the Upper Verde River Wildlife Area being named an Important Bird Area, presented by the Prescott Audubon Society

- Large-scale habitat improvement projects, presented by Prescott National Forest

- Partnership addressing natural resource recreation and community service, presented by Yavapai County Sheriff's Office
