The fish are looking up and we've had plenty of bugs on the water. We've been fishing dry flies in the wade section as well as the float section for a good bit now. The warm weather is expected to continue which means the Salmonflies will be creeping up from Varney to Raynolds in no time. Bring it all when you head to the Madison. Salmonfly patterns, adult caddis, emerging caddis, PMD sparkle duns, and rusty spinners. After that cold spell we had everything should be out in the warmth. Don't forget to approach this stream with care when wading. The allure of the stream center should be fought off at all costs. The fish will hold in that fantastic pocket water that make this river famous. Getting drag-free, short drifts along the bank will produce the nicest fish.
