The Madison below Quake Lake continues to fish well for our guides. The cold water keeps the nymphing consistent through out the day. The big browns will be lurking in the shallows during the morning and evening hours. We have a large selection of streamers this year so stop in if your box is looking low. On warm days the dry fly fishing has been good. Enough hoppers, beetles and ants have been around to keep the fish looking up. And don't forget about the Baetis fishing, especially on a wet day like today. When you're wading and fishing nymphs it would be best to fish the wade stretch and the upper float stretch. The exceptional pocket water in these areas gives you the best chance to get your nymphs down to the fish. If the weather is good for fishing terrestrials then the lower float stretch can be great. If you're going to fish a double nymph rig use a rubberleg stonefly to get a smaller nymph down. Trout are more comfortable eating smaller nymphs when there aren't as many bugs in the water column. And a rubberlegs is a productive spawner pattern.
