Fishing has been slow in the early mornings, but mid-day look for a potpourri of insects, especially with these cloudy overcast days. I have seen blue wing olive hatches size 16 and grey may flies size 14 (Calibaetis) On warmer days lots of golden stones after 3 pm. Use a size 10 or 12 stimulator with or with out dropppers. If you use a dropper go long and consider two numphs, one doubes as your weight. Try to get to the other side of the McCloud River and always try to fish or wade from from flat side of the river to bank side of the river. Consider very small dropper rigs for your nymphs, go deep in deep holes as much 8 feet to your weights. Use a sliding indicator that adjusts easy, on this river you need to change depths and flies A LOT. www.jacktrout.com, (530) 926-4540, (530) 235-2969
