Fishing pressure and general boat traffic around the lake has been noticeably lower this past week. The trolling boats are scattered all around the east basin, working the usual places like Big Springs, Dorado, Lake Haven, Rocky Point, and Canyon Dam, and Rec. 1 to the A-Frame. The best bite has been very early 5:30 to 7:00 am, then drops off before coming back on after 8:30 am.
Evening jigging has been getting some quality fish. Areas like the Spar Buoy, mouth of the Hamilton Branch, and Rec. 2 have all reported fish from 1.75 to 4.0 pounds.
White or yellow, feather or tube jigs get the most attention. Mooching anchovy tails for salmon near the A-Frame has been rewarding one day and weak the next. Doug Neal: (530) 258-6732 http://www.almanorfishingadventures.com
