Another week of Monster Rianbows being pulled out of the Lake. Water temperature rose to almost 60 degrees this week, making the Trout seek deeper colder water which has more oxygen in it. I.m starting to find this elusive giants out in Swallow Bay and Heron Bay on the rocky points about 10-15 ft deep. Last week they were sitting about 5-10 feet. As the water temperature keeps climbing up we are going to start fishing deeper for these rainbows. Fishermen can still catch them in the South End for now on Powerbait and little lured but, the fish will move out of the South soon for the deep water. Other anglers are having better luck on baits and lures out by the Dam, I'm assuming because of the availability of the deep cold dark water. If you get lucky enough to catch a big Bow Trout, they taste best smoked with Hickory. Personally, I soak my filets in honey for about 2 days prior to smoking and it;s best to cold smoke 'em for about 10-12 hours. When they're done it's like candied trout jerky and I could eat pounds of that tasty stuff!

A few more Striped Bass were brought in this week. Several of them were caught on top of water baits. Seems a little early for them to come up on SHad but, we didnt have much of a winter so it's makes sense due to the warm water on the surface. The staff and I thought that the stripes would be eating trout this time of year. Instead they are still feeding on shadlike they have been all winter long., in the deeper water chasing schools of baitfish. Well there not much more going on this week besides Trout and Stripes, even the Bass fiching slowed down but, they're still catchable just please release them. Come see us here at Lake Del Valle and catch a monster. Goodluck everybody.
