Warm and sunny with a light breeze was our forecast here for the week, we had a freak rain storm yesterday in the early to mid morning. The rain put a damper on things slowed down the fishing and fishermen, but we all agree that we need the rain. The Lake is full at 704 feet above sea level with a surface temperature of 68-70 degrees. The tullies are finally fully submerged on the banks in the coves which are excellent Bass cover. I've been catching them on watermelon senkos and margarita mutilator Robo-worms.

Many anglers are starting to break out their cat fishing rods as the weather and the water warm up. Anchovies along with Mackerel, Sardines and livers have been the favorite of anglers, but the fish are picking chovies over everything else lately. Stripers can be caught on the same baits this time of year, just have patience sometimes it can take a few hours for the scent trail to reach them and then they have to go searching for it.

Rainbow trout are still being caught in the warm weather just fish a little deeper than in the past few weeks. You want to fish the 15-20 foot range with small spoons or Kastmasters, power bait, night crawlers, and eggs are a wonderful choice as well. Good Luck Y'all

Featured anglers of the week

Gustavo Gonzolez of Hayward got a 7.3 lb trout on rainbow power bait along the East side trail Emanuel Flores of Mountain View got a 7.5 lb trout on a gold kastmaster from East Beach Marco Victoria got a 4 lb striper on anchovies from the East Beach Michael Killebsew caught an 18.5 lb catfish on anchovies

Fish are like people, when it's too cold or hot outside they hide until the weather becomes more suitable. For now that is in the mornings and evenings. Fishing slowed way down this week with only one person recording a catch. On...... Read More

Overcast with fog has been the forecast in the mornings closely followed by sunshine and strong winds throughout the day into the evening. The wind this week has been battering fishermen on shore and from boats, One of the sfaest places to escape from the wind has been in the coves or from the South End. Fish also like to get out of the wind coves, so there's a good tip on where to start fishing for them. The Lake...... Read More
