Trout bite has picked up. A 4.8 pound cutthroat was caught earlier in the week. Angler was down 15 colors. Smaller trout are caught on Power Bait, Mice Tails. June Lake Marina (760) 648-7726; Trout bite remains slow. Small planters are being caught on the south side of the lake near the campground where they are planted. Gull Lake Marina (760) 648-7539; We saw five fish over six pounds this week and another ten plus fish weighing in over four pounds brought into the scales at the Silver Lake Resort scales. We even started to see a few stringers full, still few and far in between but we are seeing some nice catches. The weather has turned nice and warm this past week and it is starting to feel like summer. With this the water temperatures have slowly started to rise as the top of the water is sitting at about 49 to 51 degrees and below the surface is sitting at about 52 to 53 degrees so look for that temperature line to flip over in the next week or two and everything to be working near the surface as we continue to warm up. Unfortunately we did not see the DFW stock truck this week but we are on the schedule to receive a load of DFW fish this coming week. Even with the less amount of stocking by DFW the fishing has been pretty good. Again, just remember that you do have to put some effort into the fishing to catch them. The days of tossing your line in the water and getting results is long gone. The quality is there but the quantity is down. I think I have said this a few times before. Anglers saw the best results using good old fashioned worms as well as any type of Power Bait with a Garlic scent in it has been successful. It seems that the far end of the lake where Rush Creek dumps into Silver Lake has been the hot spot as those big lunkers are hanging out at that inlet grabbing whatever flows down the creek to gobble up. We are just now seeing our first good hatch of bugs as the weather has warmed so if you are a Fly fisherman try using a caddis or a small gnat for some great results.Silver Lake (760) 648-7525
