Fish Species: Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass
Tucked beside the Jackson County Expo Center in Central Point, Expo Pond is a compact, easy-access fishery that delivers solid action year-round. Known for its regular rainbow trout stockings and warmwater species, it’s a go-to spot for local anglers of all skill levels.

ODFW stocks the pond several times each spring, with thousands of legal-sized trout released between March and May. These fish are eager biters, especially in the days following a stocking. Bank anglers using PowerBait, worms, or small spinners often do well, particularly near the south end by Gate 5.

As the weather warms, largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and bullhead catfish become more active. Bass respond to soft plastics and crankbaits, while panfish are easily caught with jigs or worms under a bobber. Catfish are best targeted in the evening with bait fished on the bottom.

The pond is open year-round and offers excellent bank access, including wheelchair-friendly paths. It’s a great place for families, beginners, or anyone looking for a quick fishing fix close to town. No boats are allowed, but the shoreline provides plenty of casting room.
