Rainbow Lake in Lakeside, Arizona, is a 116-acre high-country lake that offers year-round fishing at 6,700 feet elevation. Regularly stocked with rainbow trout from spring through fall, the lake also supports warm-water species like largemouth bass, catfish, and sunfish, making it a versatile fishery for anglers of all skill levels.
Trout are most active in cooler months and respond well to PowerBait, worms, and small lures. Fly anglers do well with nymphs and dry flies near the shallows during early and late hours. Bass fishing peaks in spring and summer around submerged structure, while catfish are best targeted at night using cut bait or stink bait.
Boats with electric motors are allowed, and a public ramp and fishing dock offer solid access for both boaters and shore anglers. Though much of the shoreline is private, designated public areas provide productive fishing spots. Kayaks, canoes, and small electric boats are ideal for navigating the lake quietly and efficiently.
The lake is regulated under statewide rules, with typical daily limits of six trout and five bass. Aquatic vegetation may increase mid-summer but provides excellent bass cover.
Rainbow Lake’s combination of trout and warm-water species, coupled with its cool mountain climate and modern amenities, makes it a standout fishing destination in Arizona’s White Mountains.
