The Greer Lakes—River, Bunch, and Tunnel Reservoirs—are located near Greer, AZ, in the White Mountains at over 8,000 feet elevation. These three high-country reservoirs are stocked seasonally with rainbow trout and Apache trout, offering excellent fishing from spring through early fall.
River Reservoir, the largest, supports the most diverse opportunities and has a boat ramp for non-motorized craft. Trout are caught using bait (PowerBait, worms), spinners, and flies like woolly buggers. The deeper water holds fish longer into the summer.
Bunch Reservoir, slightly smaller, offers reliable shoreline access and is favored by fly anglers in the early morning. Dry flies and nymphs are productive here during hatch seasons.
Tunnel Reservoir is the smallest and most shallow, but early-season trout fishing can be excellent. Apache trout are more prominent here and respond well to small lures and dry flies.
Motorized boats are not allowed on any of the lakes, preserving the tranquil atmosphere. All three reservoirs are part of the AZGFD’s White Mountains stocking program and support clean, clear water conditions ideal for trout.
The Greer Lakes are best suited for anglers seeking peaceful alpine fishing, especially with fly gear or light tackle. With cool temps, reliable stocking, and scenic views, they remain a favorite summer fishing destination.
