The Columbia River at Brewster is widely regarded as a top-tier salmon fishery, particularly during July and August when sockeye and summer Chinook runs converge in the Brewster Pool. These back-to-back runs create a narrow window of fast-paced, high-yield fishing that attracts anglers from across the region.

Sockeye are the most numerous and accessible, with anglers trolling dodgers and small hooks tipped with scented corn. These fish average 3–6 pounds and are aggressive during early mornings. Downriggers and line counters help dial in depth and consistency, with most sockeye taken within 25–40 feet.

Summer Chinook run deeper and larger, with 10–25 pound fish targeted using Super Baits, herring, or flashers. This fishery demands precision and patience—boats grid the pool in slow passes, fine-tuning depth and speed.

Boat access is excellent, with ample ramps and facilities. The area gets crowded during the peak season, particularly during the popular Brewster Salmon Derby in July.
