Date: January 12, 2008
Park Hours: 6:00 AM???5:00 PM, Daily
Boat Dock Closes: 4:00 PM, Daily
Last Stock: January 9 ??? 1200 pounds of Rainbow Trout
Next Stock: Week of January 14???18 (1200 pounds)
Water Temperature: 53??
Water Level: Slowly rising
The trout action has held up well over the weeks with the best baits being
rainbow and green power bait, night crawlers and small gold Kastmasters
proving best. The Buoy line and Trout Cove areas have been seeing the
best action in the deeper parts of the lake. Most anglers are reporting
average size trout from Trout Cove and other areas with some fish in the 3
to 4-pound range. Try trolling with lures if the action is slower during the
afternoon. The last stock was planted January 9, with 1200 pounds of
rainbow trout. Dixon is planting another 1200 pounds of rainbows for the
week of January 14???18.
The catfish bite has slowed down to a crawl this last week. The catfish are
hitting on cut mackerel and night crawlers. The "BEST" action is on the
shoreline at the northeast corner of Whisker Bay and the Buoy line. Also,
try fishing in the Jack Creek Cove area next to Pier #3. With the recent
rains, this just might turn on the bite again.
With the colder water temperatures upon us, the bass action is very slow.
No bass have been reported this week.
The New Year has arrived and so has the time to purchase the new 2008
California state fishing licenses. Dixon Lake concession has in stock
annual (1 year) licenses, and 1 or 2-day licenses for sale. A second rod
stamp is also available for those who want to fish with two fishing rods.
