Striped bass are still plying both the San Joaquin and the Sacramento rivers. Trollers, bait drifters and live drifters are picking up some limits averaging from 4 to 10 pounds in front of Eddo’s Harbor on the flats and in the Rio Vista area on the Sacramento River along the deep water channel in 25 to 30 feet of water at anchor tossing bait. Presently the best fishing taking place out on the Delta is the largemouth bass fishing, especially on the San Joaquin River’s east and south sections. Most of the fish are averaging from 2 to 7 pounds, up to an occasional larger fish. The best lures are crank baits, spinnerbaits and frog patterns off the weed beds and rip rap. Outgoing tides have been best. The sturgeon fishing in the Pittsburg area and Suisun Bay is still providing enough action, but not many are targeting the species. The best baits are salmon roe and eel strips or grass shrimp. Sturgeon still making an appearance in Montezuma Slough as well. The big striped bass of the week came out of the Stockton area on the San Joaquin River off the mouth of Buckley Cove. The fish weighed in at 25 pounds and was caught off the shoreline on threadfin shad.
