Hit the Bay targeting either halibut on the flats or striped bass off the rock piles and you will find the fishing is off the charts. Those fishing for salmon outside the gate are limiting out early and they head into the Bay to target stripers and halibut. The stripers have been averaging 8 to 10 pounds, up to an occasional larger fish going over 20 pounds off the rock piles and drifting live anchovies on the flats off the Berkeley Pier and Angel Island for halibut weighing as much as 45 pounds.
