East Walker River (CA) - Bridgeport, CA

The flows on the East have been steadily dropping and right now they’re sitting at about 88 cfs.  The fishing has still been very good with some anglers reporting catching up to 20+ fish in a day.  The caddis have mostly gone away but the crawdads are still around and there’s lots of midges and baetis hatching.  The Nevada side is also fishing very well, both the private and public sections.  With the lower water flows the fish will start to concentrate more on the deeper pools and runs so that’s where you’re going to want to focus.  The mornings have been in the low to mid 20’s so it’s getting to be the time of year when you don’t need to get out there super early.  There still seems to be a slow time mid-day form about 11 or so to 1 or 2, good time for lunch and a beer.  It’s been mainly nymphing and streamers down there lately, we haven’t heard anything about dries or dry/droppers lately.
Recommended Flies:
WD-40,  zebra midge, flashback emerger, radiation baetis, military mayfly, dark lord, silver streak, rainbow warrior, sculpzilla, dead drift crayfish, Dali lama, moal leech, zuddler, San Juan worms, squirmy wormy’s, JJ special.
