The flows have dropped on the Truckee River from Lake Tahoe to Boca. Because of the lower flows in the upper river, anglers are advised to only fish early mornings. By 11am, the water temperature is most likely too hot in that section. From Boca to the Stateline, anglers will find the fish much happier because of the cooler and deeper water. The fishing has been good using small caddis, small san juan worms, ants, small stonefly nymphs, crawdad patterns or midges. Some notable patterns anglers could try are Hadden’s Crawdad size 6, Truckee Creek Crawler size 4, Cutters EC Caddis size 14, Elk Hair Caddis size 16, Rios Rock Grinder size 14, Jigster Baetis size 18, Juju Baetis size 16, or Parachute Adams size 18.
FLOWS: Tahoe City 186CFS, Glenshire 194CFS, and Farad Exit 504 CFS
