The Upper Kern River fishing was a bit tougher this week due to the cold front that brought rain and snow to the higher elevations. The water cooled off which slowed the bite down. As the weather stabilizes the fishing should follow. In the 20 mile stretch anglers can find fish with salmon eggs, nightcrawlers and spinners. Fly anglers have been doing better with dry-dropper or double nymph rigs. The Lower Kern River continues to have a solid bass bite on crankbaits, jigs, and spinners. Catfish can be found on dip baits, nightcrawlers and cut baits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 161 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 233 CFS.
