As the days pass since the trout derby, it seems as if the bigger trout have been willing to bite. Numerous lightening trout over five pounds were recently reported by anglers using dough bait, minijigs, and Mousetails. Long leader Carolina rigs and garlic scent have been helpful for getting bite. Several trout also fell for a variety of lures including Kastmasters, Roostertails, Sick Jigs, and Get Bent Baits. Anglers reported fair bass fishing while using finesse baits, spinner baits, and crankbaits near the cattails and submerged cover. Some crappie were reported by anglers using small live minnows and minijigs, and catfish anglers reported catching smaller grade catfish while using dip bait, sardines, and chicken liver.
