Shasta Brown Trout Season!

Shasta Lake - Shasta Lake, CA (Shasta County)

No big browns yet, but we'll start seeing them very soon! In the meantime, we'll keep trying and be happy with days like we had yesterday!

Its still early, but we're starting to see some better fishing for browns on Shasta Lake.  They aren't easy to find this time of the year, but they will be showing up in stronger numbers soon!  Right now you have to be in the right place at the right time and that means covering a lot of water.  Bite periods are short so plan on full days on the water for the best results.  There's not much of a bite early so there's no hurry to get on the water this time of the year.  I'm finding most of my brown bites in the afternoon for sure.  Traditionally, February is the start of the brown trout season on Shasta Lake with March being the best brown fishing of the year.  February dates are plentiful right now, but my March calendar if more than half full.  If you want a shot at a trophy brown on Shasta Lake, book your day of fishing in the second half of February or March.  We don't get them every day, but most of the big browns we catch every year are coming soon!  Call Jaynie at (530) 510-2925 for more info and available dates.  Thank you!
