There are no trout plants scheduled for the Upper Kern, but anglers have had some action throughout the 20-mile stretch. Holdovers and natives have been coming on fly offerings like midges, streamers, and attractor nymphs. During the afternoons when the temps warm, dry-droppers has been working. For spin anglers, the usual salmon eggs, crickets and minijigs are getting a few. The Lower Kern Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass action is solid with minijigs and spinners. Catfish can be found on dip baits, nightcrawlers and cut baits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 174 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 180 CFS.
