The Applegate River is open to trout and steelhead fishing through March 31. Only adipose fin-clipped rainbow trout or steelhead may be harvested. All wild cutthroat and rainbow trout, and steelhead must be released unharmed.
Forecast for rising river levels through next week should get fish moving. Try pulling plugs in travel lanes at heads and tails of pools. As water rises and gets color, don’t forget to try shallow water near the bank with spoons or lures.
New Rogue South Coast Steelhead Validation is required to fish for steelhead. Harvest of wild steelhead is not allowed in the Applegate River.
You can check the USGS stream gauge flows on the Applegate to get the most up to date flow and temperature information
