Fish Lake is 48 percent full. Both the resort and USFS boat ramps are open, but the USFS ramp is getting dicey and is probably limited to small boats right now. The large pothole in the ramp is now a problem for launching, and stumps are getting closer to the water surface.‌

Water temperature were modest last week, and trout fishing was good, although the lake was gaining color from a bloom. Anglers were catching fish while still fishing with PowerBait, while one angler had good success trolling a blue wedding ring spiked with some power worm. This bait appeared to attract trout without enticing tui chub to bite. ‌

Most boats were fishing in the middle of the lake between Doe Point and the opposite bank. Fish were active closer to the resort as well. Weeds are reportedly worse near the dam, so avoid this area.‌

Obviously, water temperature will be higher this week. Catch-and-release fishing should be limited to the early morning hours, or until the weather cools. ‌

Any tiger trout caught should be immediately released unharmed. Anglers are encouraged to report their catch or any other fish stories to Rogue Fish District Staff 541-826-8774
