In the Upper Kern, the flows have increased this week from Tropical Storm Hillary. Before the storm, the trout bite was steady along the 20-mile stretch with salmon eggs, spinners, and trout jigs. The DFWL were scheduled to stock trout here this week in Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville, and Section 5, Fairview Dam to Lazy River Lodge; In the Lower Kern, Bass have been coming on small plastics and spinnerbaits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 1874 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 2915 CFS.
